“Tag, I’m it!"
Yes, a blogging buddy from Laughing Orca Ranch decided to tag me for the '6 Things About Me". Without further ado, here are my six things…
1. I have a 3-year old granddaughter with Cerebral Palsy, and every year I make special calendars to sell. The profits help with her expenses for therapy and special equipment and stuff.
2. I grew up on a farm, during which time I declared I never wanted to be tied down like that when I grew up. Always worrying about taking care of the animals! Every summer spent in the hayfield and garden! But here I am, on the farm again, and wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.
3. I’ve always wanted a parrot. I mean, a bird that talks? How cool is that? A couple of years ago I got one as a rescue. The lady said the parrot was “molting”, but alas! When I saw it, I knew better. The pattern of bare neck and chest, plus no tail feathers, was indicative of plucking problems common with an African Grey. I paid the lady and took the parrot. She did allow her beautiful red tail feathers to grow back, but I don’t think she’ll ever get over the habit of plucking the feathers on her neck and upper chest.
4. I live with chronic pain, a thoracic neuralgia on the right side of my body, and fibromyalgia, and the accompanying fatigue, so sometimes… no, MOST times… I don’t accomplish near as much I want each day.
5. I’ve moved almost 30 times so far, and lived in 7 different states. And no, not because my spouse or I were in the military. I hope to stay right where I am now, figuring my next move will be 6 feet under and I won’t have to pack for that one, ha!
6. I’m an introvert that really likes people, but doesn’t do well out in crowds. Definitely not a party animal. Email and blogs and yes - gasp! Snail mail! - work well for people contact in my case.
And there you have it, “6 Things About Me.”
No, I didn’t tag anyone else. For various reasons, such as a time crunch, and other people already doing this I might have tagged, I’m going to beg off this go round. But if you read this and haven’t been tagged and feel so inclined, go for it!

Thanks for participating
Your grand daughter is beautiful.
I think it’s great that you rescued your parrot and gave her such a better life. She’s stunning
I enjoyed learning more about you.

Hi Lisa! Thanks for dropping by, and for including me in your “6 Things” meme. I enjoyed doing it.
That is a great list of 6 things. my mom has an african grey too. they are such beautiful birds
Jenny, thanks for stopping by. I’ll bet your mom enjoys her bird. African Greys are such characters!
“my next move will be 6ft. under and I won’t have to pack”
LOL!!!!!
Your granddaughter is a beauty!
Hi T….OMG!!!! Jenny is my DAUGHTER!!! How weird is THAT! I guess I had best watch what I say about my kids since she evidently reads your stuff too. The irony of all this is that she is the one who told me about your website….the Grey playing in the sink…and here we are. I so wish we lived closer to each other….it’s kind of creepy (in a GOOD way, of course) because the 6 things you wrote about yourself could describe me to a ” T “(Does anyone know what exactly that expression means or is derived from??? to a T.) ….hum…… I mean everything from the fibromyalsia, a son with special needs, I’m a super parrot-crazy critter gal..(.I have 12 parrots of various species ranging from lovebirds, a variety of conures , blue-front amazons , an African Grey and a B&G macaw. They are all rescues coming from various horrific backgrounds (which I cannot go into because it breaks my heart to even think about how incredibly stupid humans as a species are.) I have spinal stenosis and spinal sclerosis with some degenerative disc disease thrown in to make Life suck BUT soon to be repaired with some some serious surgery. C1 down to S1. Doesn’t that sound like fun!! My Dr has invited other surgeons to observe …too bad I won’t be able to participate!! I’ll be out of commission for at least a month. I am incredibly lucky to have a friend who is familiar with them and they know him and willing to stay at my house to babysit and care for the birds and my two chichuiaias…help!! SPELLING!…Lily is a 3 lb BIG dog trapped in a tiny but mighty body. Louis is a walking cinderblock….we don’t talk about that too much in his presence as he is a bit self-concious about his weight…he’s 7 yrs old I think..(can’t remember except his b-day is Feb.14)….Ive done my best blocking out the 1999-2009 period in history…it’s been a real drag. – I LOVE the canvas bag with your daughter’s pictures on it. I can’t decide whether to give it as a gift or keep it myself and promote your cause. Love & blessings, T
That’s pretty funny, what with Jenny being your daughter, and now here YOU are! And have fibromyalgia too. You have a son with special needs, and I have a granddaughter with special needs. But 12 parrots! Wow! I’m rather jealous!
You should tell your doctor to videotape this party with all the other surgeons watching your serious surgery. Blessings for a safe and successful surgery!
