I made note in the comments section of the post “Eggs And Alligators” of the correct asnwer for what was in the alligator’s mouth and who the winner was. However, in case some of you missed it (as The Farmer did), the answer was:
SHEEP WOOL!
Jenny from Book Embargo left the correct answer on the follow-up post, “More On Alligator Contest.”
You see, last fall I had this bright idea to use some of the fleece skirtings as mulch in my flower beds. It might have worked all right if we didn’t have chickens free ranging. Unfortunately, I didn’t think about how the chickens would be constantly scratching out the wool as they forage for bugs. Every time The Farmer tries to mow the grass, he has to rake the wool back into the flower beds.
It wasn’t one of my better ideas.
Anyway, at some point, some of that wool ended up in the alligator’s mouth and I took a picture.
The picture prize is now printed and ready for boxing and mailing to Jenny.
The first contest, “Name That Sound” was to guess a squirrel was making the noise in the little video. The prize picture was mailed earlier this week (yeah, I know, I’m as slow as molasses flowing down a snowbank). It looked like this:
Amy from “Amy’s Corner” won the prize and asked for me to choose a picture of chickens. This Buff Orpinton chick on violets is one of my favorites, and I hope she likes it too!
I really liked the frame, but unfortunately, when I went back to get another, they had sold out and I had to settle for a much plainer frame (sorry Jenny).
I have ideas bubbling in my brain (scary) for more contests and prizes, so stay tuned!

Oh my gosh…that is the cutest picture. I just can’t wait to get it. Thank you so much…just so you know I really like the Buff Orpingtons so it’s a great choice!
And really any frame is great. I am just so excited….gonna run to the PO to check the mail now!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah!
Hey Amy! Glad you like my choice. I have lots of pictures that have never made it to the blog, so it was fun to get to look around in them and choose one!
Oh I got it this evening…and it is beautiful! I can’t tell you how grateful I am. It’s so great because the violet makes me think of my grandmother who is very far away from me. Thanks so much!!
PS It’s on my nightstand right now until I find the perfect spot for it.
Super! I’m glad it turned out so well.
That is beautiful! but I am sure that I will like my frame even more, because its MINE
I especially enjoyed how I connected you with a Flickr person that is COMPLETELY unrelated. No idea how I did that!!!
I am psyched that I actually guessed CORRECTLY!!!
Yay Jenny, you’re such a good sport!
That was rather funny that you thought for so long I had an account on Flickr. Maybe I should get one, ha, ha!
Anyway, I’ll get your picture out soon! Thanks for taking part in the contest!!!
Awww, what a precious photo. Chicks are just so cute!

Thanks Lisa. I think little peeps are just mighty cute.
I was mad at myself for not guessing on your contest, but I don’t think I would have guessed sheep wool! What a darling chick pic!!
I’ve already got an idea for a contest this week, so maybe you’ll have better luck with it.
And thanks, I think it’s a cute chick pic too!
