Sometimes things get pretty fowl around here.
For instance, you can't be here very long before you'd notice there is always some kind of fowl racket. There are chickens clucking, bird song, peafowl screeching, and always, always, always, guineas making noise of some sort.
Going inside doesn't help. Besides still being able to hear a lot of the bird banter going on outside, there's a parrot inside who is never averse to putting in her 2 cents.
And wherever you look, there are birds looking back.
Inside, the parrot climbs all over the place, looking for the highest point of view.
She loves me so much, every once in a while she offers to share some pre-digested bits of food with me.
I try not to hurt her feelings when I decline by telling her what a nice bird she is.
Going out on the front porch, I see eight beady little eyes staring at me.
Four little baby birds, barely able to all still fit in the nest, keep an eye on what I'm doing. Now and then one of the parents zoom past my head, but thankfully none has dropped a bomb on me yet.
If I go out back, the peafowl are up on their perch keeping an eye on what I'm doing.
While our older peacock is very regal, one of the younger ones is downright nosy, and downright sassy. He gets right up as close as he can to look you in the eye.
Of course, if I get the camera close to take pictures, the little rascal gets as close as he can and tries to stick his beak right up against the camera.
No matter where you go around here, some critter's got a bird's eye view.

My sister has a friend with many parrots. Her African Gray is very possessive of her.
When anyone visits, he sneaks from where he is in the house and the visitor will often find themselves on the defensive from a sneak attack. A gentle bite that says, “Don’t get one inch closer to her, she’s mine!”
Oh my gosh – you are really getting some great shots! The little (what are they, swallows?) babies in the nest are incredible. Look at those big eyes! And your pretty peacock…wow, he’s a bit intimidating when he comes up to you with that glare, isn’t he? I’m sure that’s his very best look of love, though. LOL
Fun story!
Hee hee! What fun shots, ALL of them! The swallow babies are so cute with their big eyeballs. But the peacock youngster steals the show. You obviously love your birds, they all look so healthy and well cared for. Your parrot is so sweet to share her lunch with you!
Hey CeeCee, I know just what you mean about possessive African Gray parrots! I can be in my office working for hours, and mine will be in the living room on her cage, but let one of the guys come in here and start talking to me, and she is down off that cage and walking down the hall as fast as those little legs will carry her! She thinks she has first dibs, I am HER human!
Thanks for stopping by Danni. I’m not sure what kind of birds they were, but I suspect you’re right and they were swallows. Anyway, they were gone soon after I took that picture. Good thing… they barely fit in the nest!
Amy, glad you liked the pictures! Our little peacock is… well, somewhat cocky, ha! He makes me laugh the way he has to run right up to see what you’re doing.
Ooooo! I’m playing catch-up tonight…and I’m so glad I am, or I’d have missed this really fun post. Wow! You are capturing some really great photos of some awesome subjects! That junior peacock means business, eh? You should consider entering his photo into a photo contest…really! It’s THAT good!
Thanks for the smile. I love all of your animals, includiing your beautiful birds.

Amazing pics…especially of your African Grey! How old is she and what is her name? She’s lovely…and the colors on the peacocks are amazing. I’ve just discovered your website and enjoyed it very much!
Hi Dianne!
Thanks for stopping by! It’s always great to hear from new readers.
Our African Gray is a rescue, and we estimate she is about 6 years old. She was called “Butler” when we got her… only he was a she, so I tried to change her name to something that sounded close the same… not very original, but we call her “Baby.” Or sometimes BB. She’s great entertainment around here!
Hope to see you around again soon.
Lisa! I didn’t mean to ignore you. I’m glad you enjoyed the pictures. Our little peacock dude does have an attitude! He makes me laugh everytime I go out there.
