Coaching Clydesdales

in Animals From Elsewhere

I love big horses.  I mean the REALLY BIG ones like Percherons and Clydesdales.  They are just so uber cool.   Way back in another lifetime, me and a good friend of mine would visit the Heinz Hitch Team that was located at that time in Wheeling, West Virginia.  Our excuse was to take the kids to see the horses, but. . . fact is, we probably wanted to see them even more than the kids.  They were just so awesome!

Considering that, it's probably not much of a surprise that I love those Budweiser commercials.  The things they have those big horses do is an absolute hoot.  And the thing is, they don't edit the film to make it look like the horses are doing something they're not, or use computer generated animations to make those commercials.  Nope, they really train the horses to do that stuff!

The Clydesdales have an acting coach.  How cool is that?

What a job!  I'm sure it requires patience and experience and love, but oh, wouldn't it be fun!????!

And remember the commercial with the Clydesdales having a snowball fight?

Well, take a look at this video, and see how they trained them to do that.

The acting coach/trainer's name is Robin Wiltshire. And while the commercials for Anheuser-Busch with the Clydesdales are probably my favorite, he's also trained animals for commercials for Wells Fargo (more horses!), Merrill Lynch (one huge bull!), Oldsmobile, Artic Cat and more. They all feature horses or cattle - no surprise there. If you'd like to check out some of those different commercials, take a look at his website, Turtle Ranch. and click on "TV Spots."

Wouldn't it be fun to watch those gorgeous Clydesdales making a commercial!???!

Ooops. Sorry I missed this one. I’ve always admired Clydedales and other big breeds. The Budweiser commericals are my favorites! I think it would be amazing, and a little scary to just sit on a huge draft breed’s back someday. lol!

I’d settle for a ride in a wagon with a team pulling!
