Glacier Bay National Park

On February 25th of 1925 Glacier Bay National Monument in Alaska was established. Somewhere along the line it became known as Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve.

Why do I find this so interesting? Well, back in September of 2007, my Dad and I cruised through Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve.

I loved it!  It was one of the most beautiful places I've been.

Mendenhall Glacier is a glacier about 12 miles (19 km) long located in Mendenhall Valley, part of the Glacier Bay area.  It's rugged country.

Of course the water is littered with chunks of ice from the glaciers.

That doesn't mean the place is devoid of life of course!

Green growth on mountainsides.

Yes, there's green in icy Glacier Bay!

But mostly, Glacier Bay is full of... well, glaciers!

I hope I get to go again someday soon, and take The Farmer along so he can see all this too!

Oh, you have brought back such memories! I was there in May of 2008 and loved every minute and iceberg. It is so beautiful and I’ve wanted to go back. I plan to the summer of 2011. It just takes your breath away doesn’t it? Thank for the beautiful pictures and memories.

Beautiful pictures. I also like the post about the roosters, they sure are “cocky” aren’t they.

And yes, you’ve got it just right, those roosters sure are “cocky”. ;-)
