Humming Right Along

in Wildlife in the Country

I was walking down in the bottom pasture when I saw movement out of the corner of my eye. I got my camera up and focused quickly, but the picture isn't all I hoped for.

The little hummingbird was sipping nectar from a Cardinal Plant in the shadows, with bright sunshine behind.  That makes it hard to get much detail on the stuff in the shadow, but still, she's a pretty little thing.
Maybe next time I'll have better luck.

Thanks! I was actually a little disappointed, thinking I’d really nailed it. I keep trying for the “perfect” shot of a hummingbird. With less contrast in background I would have been close. Oh well, I’ll just keep trying! ;-)

I think you did great capturing that little bird. They are quick as lightning and very hard to photograph. I’ve tried many times but I usually end up with a shot of the feeder…and no hummer!

Thanks! They are tough to get pictures of, aren’t they? By the time the camera is focused on them, they’ve moved somewhere else. I’ve got lots of those empty pictures too.
