Parrot On A Hamper

in African Grey Parrot

I mean, everyone has parrots on their clothes hampers, right?

It’s like this, the other day I was taking a shower, and when I opened the bathroom door, this is what I saw:

African Grey Parrot sitting on a clothes hamper.

A-parrot-ly I was in the shower too long, and my little feathered kid missed me.  She’s like that – - if I’m out of sight too long and don’t answer her contact calls, she comes looking for me.

She’s also very nosy, so once she figured out I was still around, she decided to check out her surroundings a little more closely.

African Grey Parrot looking in hamper.

I rather image she crawled up the clothes hamper using the open spaces as a sort of jungle gym.  But getting back down, now that might be a little harder.

How do I get down?

As usual, I rescued her and carried her back to her cage.

But I’ve got to tell you, it’s a little disconcerting to come out of the bathroom and find a bird looking at you.

If it was my parrot I would definitely appreciate that she kept her comments to herself when I exited the shower!!! I really enjoyed this post! :)

LOL! I’ll agree with the bit about keeping her comments to herself!

Glad you enjoyed the post. She’s not exactly the usual farm critter, but she lives here, so I figure that qualifies her for post material.

Oh, Yes! She is one of my favorites! Glad to know she is OK and the hamper lid didn’t fall down and whack her. I bet if she knew about the shower rain she might want to be in it, too. I don’t know much about parrots or her species, but don’t some parrots live in rain forests?

Barbee, I don’t think that lightweight lid would have hurt her. & yes, many parrots live in rain forests!

It certainly is disconcerting! We had a Jackdaw, that we rescued, for a while and he was very nosey, had to be into everything! He had a habit of shower watching. Now that’ll freak you out, a little Avian voyeur!

Now if you could just teach her to sort the laundry you’d be laughing!!

I love the way you put that Rosie… a little Avian Voyeur! LOL! It sounds like a cross between Hitchcock’s “Birds” and “Psycho”. Disconcerting indeed!

That’s be cool to have an avian housemaid that did the laundry, but I’m not holding my breath on that one. ;-)

Silly bird!
We had parakeets for pets when we first got married. We let them have run of the house when we were home. They were kind enough to leave us little ‘presents’. I wonder if an African Grey’s presents aren’t a bit bigger and harder to clean up?

Silly bird indeed!

Yes, I’m afraid she leaves those same kind of “presents” as your parakeets. That’s why I bought a Spotbot. ;-)

Of course, unlike your little parakeets, she also has a major beak for chewing, and THAT gets her into more trouble than anything!
