Squirrel Nest

Yesterday I was sitting at the dining room table eating lunch and looking out the picture window.  I noticed this collection of leafy twigs in a fork of a tree near the house.

What have we here?

It wasn't long until I saw who was responsible for all those branches in the fork of that tree. . .

Aha! A squirrel is responsible for this leafy mess!

She leaped away, intent upon her work. . .

"I'm not done yet!"

There was apparently much work to be done!

.

The squirrel worked very hard to bring branches to the nest and pull them down and put them into place.

But then she saw me looking at her.

Squirrel in tree.

"Uh-oh, someone can see me!"

I moved away out of her sight, but it was too late.  Evidently she thought better of building a nest where a human could watch her every move while sitting in the comfort of their own home.

And I haven't seen her since that last pic.  Too bad.  It would have been interesting to see what happened next.

  1. Maybe she’s just giving the area a rest. Seeing how it plays out? OR she may have been in a big, big hurry to build because she needed to have those babies?
