Squirrel Ornaments

in Wildlife in the Country

The Farmer was looking at a catalog the other day. He saw some squirrel ornaments in it, and jestingly told me that’s just what we need.

Yeah, we need squirrel ORNAMENTS all right. Cause gee, it’s not like we ever see a REAL squirrel (said with MUCH sarcasm).

No, just because we see squirrels in the trees every day. . .

Squirrel in tree.

Squirrel in tree.

Or just because they are cheeky little devils who don’t mind looking right at you when you’re just a few feet away. . .

Squirrel looking at me.

Squirrel looking at me.

Or just because they have no qualms whatsoever of jumping on the windowsill and eating the sunflower seeds I put there for the birds. . .

Squirrel eating sunflower seeds on windowsill.

Squirrel eating sunflower seeds on windowsill.

And further, pay absolutely no attention to me no matter how much I bang on the window right beside them. . .

Why, it’s obvious we don’t see enough squirrels.  So guess I’d better dig out that catalog and place an order for some squirrel ornaments right away!

Our squirrels have the Jurassic Park mentality (if I don’t move, maybe they won’t see me). They’ll come right up to the back door and look in—-the dogs sitting just the other side of the glass. Who will move first? All I can say is, I’m glad we have double-paned doors.

That’s pretty funny Ceecee! Either squirrels are really cheeky, or maybe they’re just plain stupid. Or have a death wish? Or???

This made me laugh out loud!! Your narrative was hilarious and, then, the corresponding picture captions just cracked me up!
Hmmm..yes…squirrels…and ((shudder)) chipmunks…. they are so bold around here, they’ve taken to eating the llama hay!

Glad you enjoyed the humor!

Chipmunks eating hay! That’s a new one on me, but then, we don’t see chipmunks around here. Maybe they don’t like the dogs or cat, or maybe the squirrels ran them off. No telling.
